Indigenous Habitat: Our well-maintained gardens, filled with native plants, shrubs, and trees, naturally draw birds year-round. Our farm has seven different habitat types, each with it's own collection of indigenous plant species. The diversity of plant life provides food, shelter, and nesting sites, allowing birds to thrive in their natural habitat.
Guided Bird Walks: For guests who are keen to learn more, we offer the opportunity for self-guided birdwatching walks along our designated trails. The tranquillity of the environment ensures you can observe birds up close without disturbing their routine.
Photographic Opportunities: Whether you're capturing the vibrant colors of the Malachite Kingfisher or the elegant flight of the Pied Kingfisher, the wide variety of bird species provides endless opportunities for stunning photographs. Birders often return with photos of sunbirds, weavers, and even owls.

Best Times for Birdwatching

Early Morning: The best time to spot the most active birdlife is early in the morning when the air is cool, and the birds are in full song. Dawn brings a flurry of activity, making it the ideal time for enthusiasts to catch a glimpse of birds as they search for food.
Evening: The late afternoon is another prime time for birdwatching as birds prepare to settle for the night. It’s also a great time to spot nocturnal species beginning their activity.

Facilities for Birdwatchers

Birdwatching Benches: Scattered throughout the gardens are peaceful spots where you can sit and quietly observe bird activity. These areas are positioned to maximize your chances of seeing a wide variety of species in their natural setting.
Bird Checklists: Please ask at reception for your own copy of our Bird species checklists. This is great for guests who want to track and identify the birds they see during their stay.
